Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately convene a National Security Summit to discuss and address the worsening security situation in the country. The Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, has revealed that Nigeria is currently experiencing power outages due to the breakdown of some National Integrated Power Plants. Mamman in a Twitter post on Thursday listed some of the affected power plants that are having issues. According to him, 7 power plants, namely; Sapele, Afam, Olonrunsogo, Omotosho, Ibom, Egbin, Alaoji and Ihovbor are broken down. On Monday, the Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Attairu Ibrahim appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating arms procurement.
