Search engines go from one site to another using bots to crawl pages and collect information about those pages, arranging them in an index.
Once the bots collect this information, it uses algorithm to decide the ranking of pages on search results pages taking into accounts hundreds of factors or signals.
They programmed theses algorithms to display relevant, informative and authoritative pages. It also designed to provide users with efficient search experience.

Your visibility is directly proportional to your ranking – a good reason SEO is important for your ecommerce business.
The more effective your search engine optimization techniques, the higher you rank. This is necessary because 70% of internet users never click past the first search engine results pages.
It was with SEO, was I able to rank a brand company, Andtab.com for its keyword.
Customers are more likely to find you when they search and click on your website link if you increase your chance of ranking high on a search engine.
2. It Increases Web Traffic
Web traffic is the amount of internet users visiting a website either direct or referral – search engines, social medias, blogs.
As you get more visibility and clicks on search engines, so is your web traffic. This should be one of your ecommerce marketing goals.
It’s shocking to know that an average of 45% click goes to the first ranking page and the first five results take over 75% of these clicks.

3. Gain More Authority
A lot of business owners know little to nothing about website authority. They only cover the basic. I am not surprised.
By website authority, I mean search engines will award you more trust and refer more person searching content related to what you offer to your website.
These benefits won’t happen overnight or by magic. Just like human-to-human trust, you must earn it. How do you earn it?
Optimizing your website technical SEO and publishing high-quality contents relevant to your niche.
And that’s because they see you offer high-quality and relevant content in your niche.
The more you increase your website visibility by legal SEO techniques and practices, the more authoritative you become in the web space about your niche.

Increasing your website speed makes it possible to reduce your bounce rate and encourage users to stay longer on your website.

What are Some Best Search Engine Optimization SEO Techniques?
1. Create Unique and Readable Content
Do you write informative and educative articles or other media content that are interesting and unique? If yes, are your contents readable for humans?
There has been a misconception about whether we should write for humans or search engines?
Some persons believed writing for humans is the best. Since, it is humans that read and share your content not bots.
Others believed writing for search engines is the best. They continued saying, “What is the essence of writing if it wouldn’t rank on Google?”
Here is my opinion: I called it the Hybrid approach.
The hybrid approach is a system of writing for humans but optimising for search engines bots. What do I mean?
When you sit to write, do so completely with humans at heart. Put your ideas together in simple understandable words.
When you finish writing, start optimising the content for search engine using acceptable SEO best practices.
When you write, do so for people who will read it. Don’t make the mistake.
Also, there are no specific number of words you are to write to rank on Google. Though Google favours longer, unique and readable contents.
Neither would have a few pages on your website prevent you from appearing on the first page.
Now let me tell you something. It is better to have few posts with longer and unique content than many posts with few content counts.
2. Engage with Your Content
Engagement here is beyond having many likes. You can engage your readers by answering questions daring to their heart.
Create an impact and increase engagement by offering solutions to their problem in your content.
Doing this, your readers will stay longer on your website scrolling and reading.
Another good way to engage more with readers is to avoid the use of aggressive ads or designs filling up the entire page.
3. Add Alt Attributes to Images
If there is one source of traffic most marketers are not paying attention to, it is image search engines.
You need mark up your website images with alt attribute such that search engines understands what the image is about.
An alt attribute is an HTML element you used to provide more information about an image for users who can’t view the image.
Sometimes images get deleted and file corrupt. Other times images don’t load completely because of network issues.
This is where alt attribute helps. It shows a description of the image enhancing the overall experience of the user.
4. Customise Your URL Structure
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the unique link you click on to go a specific page or web address.
For example, the URL of this article you are reading is
I advise including your keyword in your URL but make sure you don’t overdo it.
Also, make it short and descriptive. Descriptive in the sense that people can know what the content is about looking at the URL.
This article centers on the topic Search Engine optimization SEO.
I have an option of using either the complete title or the keyword.
I encourage you don’t change your URL. But if you have to do, use a 301-permanent redirect.
5. Be Mobile Responsive and Speedy
Is your website mobile responsive? I mean does it fit in to screen of all sizes?
If you want to benefits from search engine optimization, you must design your website for mobiles.
Ask, “How does website design have to do with content?” Your content to rest on your website.
So, if your ecommerce website’s layout is not mobile, your contents will also look deformed.
Another thing you should pay attention to is your website speed–it’s very crucial.
Google site speed standard is three seconds. If your website loads less than this, it is a higher chance of ranking top than those that take more time.
6. Link to Other Contents
I called the act of linking to your other blog contents or pages internal linking. It is a way of introducing your readers to other contents you want them read.
Note: Internal linking is not the same as Related Post. Related posts are content you find at the end part of an article before the comment section.
Internal linking are links on an article linking to other content on the same website. It helps readers stay longer increasing engagements.
Remember, internal linking is also a ranking factor in SEO search engine optimization.
7. Choose Domain Name Wisely
Having a keyword domain name can be beneficial to your website SEO search engine optimization.
The problem here is it will lead to more scrutiny from Google, which may bring about negative ranking.
When you want to buy a domain name, avoid hyphens (oluboba-ayodeji.com) as it looks spam.
Same thing with alternative top-level domain names (oluboba.name , oluboba.biz, oluboba.info and more)
Also, for effective search engine optimization, make sure you operate your website without the www prefix. Such that even if someone types the www.oluboba.com it will still redirect to oluboba.com.
This is an important SEO search engine optimization tip, so Google doesn’t see your domain name as two different sites.
