Self Confidence brings out the leader in you, increasing your productivity to get things done in a quick time.

This is one quality that most successful people in the world have in common. The one factor that makes them stand out from the masses.

You can see this exceptional skill in the likes of…

Self-confidence is the complete trust in your ability to succeed in a thing. It’s having an I CAN DO IT mindset.

It overrules fears and places in you an undeniable faith – assuring you that all is well.

There is no better time to build this courage in you, than now. Now is the time to maximize the gifts of God in you.

If you don’t want to waste more years living below your wish, then you should pay attention to what I will teach you here.

Through this article, you will discover how to:

  • Feel hopeful in helpless situations.
  • Avoid getting lost and confused about what to do with your life.
  • Live above inferiority complex among friends and families.
  • Be courageous to demand what you deserve.

Many have applied these tips, and it has worked for them.

But before then move on to how to build, let’s see what self-confidence is not.

What Self Confidence Is Not?

As you exercise your courage, there is a level you must be careful of. And that’s being overconfident.

I will share with you 7 differences between having self-confidence and being overconfident.

  1. Self-confidence allows you to do what is necessary to achieve your goals. Overconfidence allows you to ignore what is necessarily expected to achieve the same goals.
  2. You use your brain (logic) when acting with courage. Your heart (emotion) is at work whenever you become overconfident.
  3. You are realistic and concentrate better when acting with confidence. You lose focus and exaggerate more when you become overconfident.
  4. Self-confidence brings you peace, respect, and admiration from all. Being overconfident causes you mockery, frustration, and loss of loved ones.
  5. Self-confidence conserves your energy. Being overconfident will wear you out, as you will try to do everything.
  6. When you are confident, you are humble to listen to others. It is difficult to accept other people’s opinions when you become overconfident.
  7. Self-confidence adds more life to your years. Overconfidence removes more years from your life.

How To Build Your Self Confidence

Know And Believe In Yourself

“A belief in yourself is a belief in God. And I have never heard God failed.”– Oluboba Ayodeji.

Good knowledge of who you are and what you want to be is the first step to building your self-confidence. It precedes all.

Knowing yourself helps perfect your strength while correcting your weakness.

No amount of courage will save a fish from dying on desert land. But place the same fish inside the ocean and see what happens.

It becomes important you know your Dos and Don’ts, Likes and Dislikes, etc.

You don’t tell Usain Bolts to be confident about his running skills. He knows it is one undeniable God’s gift in his life.

Or you tell Michael Phelps to be confident when he gets inside the water.

How about Messi on the football pitch?

“If every man will perfect his strength, then, a message on self confidence will be of no use.” – Oluboba Ayodeji

Every successful leader you know today had first identified with what he/she can do better than 99% of the population.

Why is this critical?

It makes it easy to choose your fight.

Paul said, “I have fought the good fight of faith”. He (Paul) didn’t go after all fights but chooses the one that is of faith.

“That you can do anything does not mean you should do everything.” Oluboba Ayodeji.

Always have this at the back of your mind.

You don’t have all the time here on earth. So, don’t waste your precious life (self-confidence) on the wrong thing.

Know And Master Your Craft

The more you do, the more you know. The more you know, the more you deliver. And the more you deliver, the more you become courageous.

I am yet to see any greater than this.

Whatever I am confident at today relies on the facts, I have done it before. And if I have done it before, I can do it again (even better).

Ask any writer about their experiences on their first writing. I guess it was close to hell.

But as soon as they keep writing more, it became like every daily activity.

Ever heard of entrepreneurs who fell completely but rose again? They could rise again because they had mastered their businesses.

As a web designer, the more I build websites, the better my courage to design any.

Every excellent speech I had delivered was because I had a deep knowledge of the subject and understood the art of public speaking.

So, at those moments of speaking, I need not be checking if I am confident or not. No, it comes naturally.

Haven’t you heard that;

“Repetition is the mother of perfection.” – Oluboba Ayodeji.

While in school, one of my secrets to success was to master speed and accuracy in examinations. But how?

I will set up an exam-like environment and answer 2 hours past questions in 1 hour.

The ones I failed, I will go back to check textbooks for answers and set the exam again.

When I do this repeatedly for three past questions on the same course, every fear is dead and courage alive.

Then I became confident in my ability to pass the course (Never had to pray for it – it came automatically).

And by God’s Grace, I never failed any carryover (not one).

Be so good at whatever you do that you don’t need to read books on how to build your self-confidence.

Because it is the little wins here and there that boost your self-esteem thereby elevating your confidence level.

“Success doesn’t need you doing anything new. You only need to make new what you have been doing.” – Oluboba Ayodeji

Know and Understand Your Audience

“If you don’t know, ask them. When you then know, they will ask you” – Oluboba Ayodeji.

If I know in depth what you want, it becomes easy to meet you at the point of that need.

When you listen to someone speak or read an article? What catches your attention the most?

It’s the part that resonates with your needs.

Your self-confidence will build up when you know you solve people’s problems. And this is only possible if you know what the people want.

Aside from the fact that a doctor knows his craft, he understands his patients. So, you can expect him to be courageous as regards health.

I am saying this because it is one thing to know and master your craft. It is another to know and understand the people you want to serve.

Haven’t you seen job applicants who are professional in their field yet were not selected for the position?

Yes, they are good at what they do but lack knowledge of whom they want to serve (the company).

Imagine you overheard your lecturer reciting your forthcoming exam questions to his colleagues.

How will you prepare for that exam? How will you go into the exam hall? With full confidence?

Let me tell you a story.

In my final year, a new lecturer taught us two courses.

I knew nothing about what he wanted from his students, and so lost confidence to pass his exam. All I did then was to cram.

When the results were out, it was a thin line to failing – would have been a carry-over in the final year.

Thanks to Jehovah.

In the second semester, I took my time to understand his style of marking and expectations.

Guess what? I had B and C. Wink!

Knowing what your audience (parents, boss, friends, or children) wants is one of the surest ways to act with courage when dealing with them.

 FAQs on Self Confidence:

  1. Know and believe in yourself.
  2. Master and Perfect your craft.

Can you fake self-confidence?

While it may be true, that people fake it, I don’t encourage you to do so. What you fake today will someday catch up with you.

At the same time you use in faking, you can use in being. Okay! Do not fake till you make it; be it till you make it.

Where does self-confidence come from?

Self-confidence starts from the inner you and extends to the outer. You build from the inside out.

And it comes from a knowledge of yourself, your works, and the people you serve.

Would you recommend I read self-confidence books?

Yes, go ahead. Books are God’s gift to us. Some authors did splendid work on this subject.

But please pay more focus to do than reading.
