7 Significances of Christ’s Birth You Should Know

There are many significances that came with Christ’s birth. I have shared just seven pieces here.

However, most Christians are ignorant of this. They think Christmas Day is a holiday when we get to see our families, share love with them, and make merry.

However, Christmas is beyond this.

Christmas is all about Jesus. It goes beyond organizing a family get-together. It is beyond eating, drinking, and making merry.

When we celebrate Christmas, we celebrate Christ’s birth and significances of his birth.

If Christ had not been born, certain things would have happened to humanity.

Humanity would have been externally doomed. Glory to God that Jesus was born, and that’s why you and I can celebrate Christmas. Hallelujah!

Significances Of Christ’s Birth

1. HOPE FOR SALVATION

When man sinned in the Garden of Eden, he lost his relationship with God.

Man became lost in the wilderness of life. He was waiting for death to take him away.

However, when Christ’s birth was promised, there was hope for man again – Matthew 1:18–23

From the above scripture, we could see that the birth of Jesus had been promised long ago.

The promise of salvation was already given by the prophet Isaiah. The isrealites were looking towards the fulfillment of this promise.

They believed and hoped that this promised child would deliver them.

Eventually, it was fulfilled when Mary conceived Jesus and gave birth to him. This made their hope for salvation alive.

Additionally, the Bible gives an account of a man whose name is Simeon. Simeon was a just and devout man.

God promised this man that he would not see death until Christ was born. This made him sit and keep hoping to see the consolation of Israel before he died.

When Jesus was eventually born, he said, “Lord, now, lettest thou thy servant depart in peace according to thy word, for my eyes have seen thy salvation.” (Luke 2:29-30).

God promised to give Jesus as a propitiation for the sin of humanity. This Jesus would save man from their sins when He comes.

So when Jesus was born, hope for salvation entered the world. This is one of the greatest significances of Christ’s birth.

If Christ had not been born, our hope for salvation would have been shattered. Glory to God that Jesus was born and the hope for salvation was given.

Hallelujah! Therefore, we should always rejoice as Christians because of this hope of salvation.

2. JOY OF SALVATION

Another of the significances of Christ’s birth is joy.

Prior to the birth of Jesus, man had no joy. The only thing a man had was happiness.

A man can only be happy when good things happen to or around him. However, when Christ was born, the fullness of God’s joy was restored to man.

Luke 2:8–14 says,

"And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore and afraid. And the angel said, Fear not, for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David savior, which is Christ the Lord."

Ever since the birth of John, the Isrealites have not received any glad tidings from God. However, when Jesus was born, good tidings came to them.

This signified the kind of joy Jesus was going to give to humanity.

Heaven rejoiced, the shepherds rejoiced, and the people of Israel rejoiced when they heard the good news about Christ’s birth.

They were glad because hope for salvation had entered the world.

As Christians, we should also be joyful because God has given us Jesus Christ to save us from our sins.

We should also share this joy with people around us by telling them what Christ’s birth has done for them. This will help them to be partakers of the joy of salvation.

To conclude, Jesus’ birth brought joy to man. Now we can rejoice forevermore because Jesus was born.

 3. FAITH FOR SALVATION

Faith is another significant thing that the birth of Jesus brought.

This is because when Jesus was born, faith was renewed, meaning that we can now trust in God for the salvation of our souls through Jesus.

Although God had promised that Jesus would be born, if he wasn’t, many would have lost faith in God.

However, Christ was born, and that is when he was born. This made our faith in Him stronger.

Christ’s birth proved that God can be trusted. It shows that when we trust in Him, He can never disappoint us. It teaches that faith in God never fails.

Additionally, Christ’s birth brought faith for justification, salvation, and sanctification.

His birth provided the provision for the perfect sacrifice needed for the remission of our sins.

If Christ had not been born, no one would have been fit to die for us on the cross of Calvary, but because Jesus was born, He gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins.

This established the faith that when we believe in Him, we are saved.

Finally, Jesus’ birth brought us the faith we need to be delivered from eternal damnation. We should therefore keep rejoicing in it and sharing it with others.

4. GOD’S LOVE

God loves us, and that’s why He gave us Jesus. He revealed to us His unconditional love by allowing the birth of Christ when we least deserved it.

John 3:16 says,

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whomsoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

God had just a child. He had only one son, but he chose to give it out to an undeserving man. Only love could have made him do this.

God loves man dearly, despite the fact that he has fallen. This was why he could not withhold Jesus is only child from him.

I John 4:9–10 says,

"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live through him. Here is love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins."

Christ’s birth is a demonstration of the genuine love that God has for man. God can decide not to give His son to us.

He can choose to leave us to eternal damnation. He can decide to allow us to bear the consequences of our sins ourselves.

However, he couldn’t do this because love constrained him.

Dear you, I want you to know that God loves you so much. If He didn’t, He wouldn’t have sent Christ to die for your sins.

He would have left you to perish in your sins. However, He loves you, and that’s why He has given you Christ Jesus—a gift of love.

Accept this love and respond to it.

In summary, Christ is God’s token of love for you. This token of love came through His birth.

You should therefore learn to always reciprocate this overwhelming love of God.

5. GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

God promised that a virgin would conceive a child who would become the savior of the world.

He could decide not to fulfill this promise, but He couldn’t do so because He is not a man that He should lie to.

Numbers 23:19 says,

"God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should repent; hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

Jesus birth is a proof that God is ever faithful to His promises. It shows that when God speaks, He does what He says. He makes promises and fulfills them.

The implication of this for Christians is that we should always trust in God’s promises.

If God can stay true to His words concerning the birth of Jesus even after donkey years, He will also stay true to all His promises to you.

No matter how long it may take, God will bring them to pass. Therefore, you should keep your faith, hope, and patience alive in God.

In short, Christ’s birth proves God to be a faithful God. He shows that when he speaks, he acts.

Hence, I charge you to keep holding onto His promises because, in due time, He will fulfill them.

6. RESTORED KINGDOM

After the fall of man, he lost the kingdom of God.

This made it hard for men to walk in righteousness. Nevertheless, when Jesus was born, the kingdom was restored to man.

Isaiah 9:6 says,

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder."

Christ brought back the government of righteousness when he was born. He brought back the dominion that man had lost in the beginning.

He gave man this dominion again. Now man can have the kingdom of God.

This signifies that man can now walk on dominion. It means that man can now reign as king over everything that God wants him to reign over.

It signifies that man can now fulfill his mandate of subduing the earth. This wouldn’t have happened if Christ had not been born.

You can now walk in God’s dominion and carry His kingdom within you. Isn’t this lovely? Of course, it is.

 7. WONDERS

Christ’s birth brought wonders to the world because the story surrounding his birth was a wonderful one.

Before Mary conceived Jesus, no woman had ever conceived a child through the Holy Ghost.

Conception has always happened through sexual intercourse between the opposite genders.

However, Christ’s conception broke this protocol.

When angel Gabriel appeared to Mary to give the message about how she would perceive and give birth to the savior of the world.

He made her understand that she was going to conceive through the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost.

This is wonderful!

Also, the prophet Isaiah said Christ’s name would be called Wonderful (Isaiah 9:6). This signifies the kind of wonder that would accompany Jesus birth.

The implication of this is that God still works wonders, and there is nothing He cannot do.

If He can enable Mary to perceive Jesus without copulating with any man, there is nothing impossible for Him to do.

Therefore, you must believe in a wonderful God. You must trust in the powerful and miraculous abilities of God.

Is there anything you want God to do for you, but it seems as if it is impossible?

I bring you good tidings that all things are possible with God. Hence, you should expect a miracle.

In conclusion, Christ’s birth brought wonders. You should therefore believe in God for miraculous blessings this Christmas.

Conclusion On The Significances Of Christ’s Birth

These significances have different implications for our lives as children of God. We must therefore seek to know, understand, and apply them to our daily lives.
